I'm down to 5 Ikes in my PCGS graded set and I'm trying to keep grades at MS65 minimum. What is a decent price for the following (my most recent Red Book pricing listed in parentheses):

1971P (120)
1972P Type I (140)
1972P Type II (1,300) Probably won't be going MS65 on this one at the moment.
1972P Type III (125)
1976P Type I (160)

I don't necessarily trust Red Book pricing and I see ebay starting and BIN prices all over the map but I've gotten good deals on the bay before so I know it's possible. What should one expect to pay? I also know a lot of you have other sources for coins that don't involve ebay and the fees, so any suggestions there would be welcome too.

Thanks in advance.

Skip RB for values "always".
Check ebay "sold" values and http://m.numismedia.com/rarecoinprices.htm

FWIW, the 1972-P Type 2 ranks #20 on PCGS' list of Top 100 Modern Coins, with a population of just 50,000 or so. High price for that one is no doubt driven by popularity & scarcity. Good luck finishing up.

For that 1972-P Type 2, NumisMedia goes from $72 at MS-62 to $1,590 at MS-65 — and $13,310 at MS-66!!!

I was surprised how many numismatists didn't know about the 1972 type 2 until more recently when it became popular.

I pulled one out of the wild about 8 years ago.

Very kool coin!

Slightly off topic but falls somewhat in line with @morgans dad comment above -
I remember a buddy who also collected coins back in school asking me if I found a '72 doulbled die yet. I might have if I smoked cigarettes....

I could tell you what I paid for mine...

But one I have not bought yet and three of them are not MS65; also telling would spoil future GTP rounds.

Correction... Four of them are not MS65.

As luck would have it, the seller sent me an offer on the 1972 V3 I was watching. I am sure their ears were burning. Given how infrequent they are showing up, I took it.

That leaves the 2015-P business strike as the last Ike I need for the extended set.

Sorry, I did not mean to get you sidetracked, CK!

I have the 2005 RedBook. I wasn't aware they had ever updated their prices on moderns so never bought another one.

It lists a top grade '76 tI (MS-63) at $6.

You need a couple hundred 1975 mint sets in pristine condition and original to find a Philly in Gem or better.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

I'm with John1. Do an "ADVANCED" search on ebay (top of every page and to the right of the SEARCH box is "Advanced". Click on it.)

1)Top line- Fill in your coin info
2)Scroll down, past "Search" (for the moment)
3)Check the box next to "Sold listings"
4)Now hit the "SEARCH" button and it will give you recent sales amounts (Not a ridiculaous BIN$, Not some exorbitant wishful amount)
5)Voila, your inquiry is answered.

EDIT: A search just turned up $1,400 & $1,500 for the 1972 T2 in MS 65 in the past 10 days or so.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
