.crack it out or sell it as-is

I'll still try to convince PCGS but would never re-holder any coin under $100; it just doesn't make financial sense.

I think JB's got the best idea so far in case PCGS Fails to see any merit to absorb the cost.

I will, however, take a photo of the slab before and after I crack it out and put those pictures online along with the coin which should get me a little more money to help with the authenticity of the grade etc.

FWIW, I would not have expected melting in sun either, but I would have not put them in the sun so as to avoid outgassing from the slab being deposited on the coin. Looks like I'm in the minority, but I think PCGS slabs should be able to stand up to display outdoors for a few hours. It's not like PCGS is a basement slabber using cheapo components.

Agree with the consensus, PCGS should not bear the cost of your negligence. Not really different than if you put on a hot stove or in a fireplace. Common sense.

Agree, PCGS should not pay to re-holder, you basically cooked the in a solar oven under the glass.

Damaged due to your negligence and YOU think they should pay for it?

jimbucks- Common sense isn't common.
You realize when you know how to think, it empowers you far beyond those who know only what to think.
