ok isn't this the fattest e-pluribus and in god we nickel that you have seen it is for me lol but really what caused it to be all blown up why does it only effect some letters but not all is it some kind of md

Die Deterioration doubling. This is what happens when a die is used way past its limit.

I agree that this nickel was likely struck with a tired die, but there also seems to be some circulation flattening.

Considering how many coins are struck in the die states, it shows:
2000-D-Fat-E-Pluribus-And-In-God-We-Nickel
54% of the coins could be struck in that die state. So they are a common find.
