This looks promising to me. There are many very similar RPMs with the slightly rotated S and doubling like this along the upper bend. Did you check coppercoins?

Congrats.
Def an RPM. Looks to be RPM6 at a later die stage [with a new reverse] than VarietyVista shows. Only four 'S' RPMs in 1954 that are directly below the 5.
That die had a long life.

Thanks guys! My eyes hurt after looking at so many different 1954 S RPM varieties on 3 different sites. CentSation I will take the RPM6 and put it on the flip for now. Thank you all for the help identifying this one.

-makecents- I had a feeling that is was the 006. I just couldn't find the markers. Plus the filled 9 in the date threw me off course.

Die markers change as the die ages. Best way to identify RPMs is by mint mark position, in my opinion.

Markers are fine to use but as Sam said, the RPM and mm location are your first and most important "markers". Depending on the die stage, you may show or not show certain markers and you may even have a stage that has not been confirmed and listed yet.
