so the back on this penny is very off center, and the 9 looks like it was messed up some how. any ideas on if this would be a mint error?

Reverse shows a minor misaligned die. The issue with the 9--given the images posted--appears to be a circulation hit. Closer-in pics of the date may tell us more.

It is within tolerance and not a mint error.
The 9 has just been damaged

@mgh, the advice we generally give is that the misalignment must be so bad that parts of the legends are falling off the edge of the coin for the numismatic value to be increased.

@Spenc when the L is up on the coin edge band, Or cupped into the edge it gives it value as a error?
