I have a coin that looks like a partially filled in D mint mark some doubling . I think maybe a wounded eagle also ?

@lki, best would be to provide an in-focus closeup of that mintmark, but for sure the post on the die that causes the inside of that letter to be empty might have partially broken. This is somewhat common and means that the die used to strike this coin was getting tired.

Mint marks were still punched into working dies by hand at that time, and filled (or "blob") mint marks are quite common, especially when the punches were worn out.

The dies will be seeing post damage on the mintmarks When the dies post breaks off of the die. Not a mintmark punch issue, but a die event where the post that would form the center of the device, breaks off.

The broken post could be seen on any closed device area when it breaks off of the die:

On this one the area that held the post in place had broken off below the fields, thus leaving a void that is taller the the top of the fields.

These are die events. Not a premium for these coins. But an answer to the question: "What is this?" So when you see this again, you can move on to the next coin. Your eyes have identified this die event.

Wounded eagle was on the Sacagawea dollar it had an arrow in the tail.
