Comparing the die states, shows that this die that struck this coin, was polished, probably to remove a clash mark, and weakened the bow tie. That is what you are seeing on your coin.

In my opinion I think my example's bowtie outline structure ratio was more closer to the ODV-028 than makecents'.

After directly compare with VV's ODV-027,I found Makecents-ODV-028 outline structure ratio looks almost the same as VV's ODV-027.

Mine is definitely a re-engraved coin, even with my extreme noviceness, I see this.

I certainly have to say Makescents matches VV ODV-028 pretty well, even to these old peepers. The Re-engraving is easy to see.

Here were two different ODV of the1971 LMC that I found in my coin bank. In my view the Denver's variety was VV's ODV-028 and the Phil's one was ODV-027. Am I right?

I want to be be clear here: Was not re-engraved Die for this year, just re-punches working Dies. Please folks, we have to stop compare years with other years. VV it is a good start to look, but them show just they see not more, this do not mean could not be others things.
this coin it is a clear re-punch Die. Some will accept , others not. By Mint docs. was re-punched Dies in order to finish the production. That's is that' all.
