Found attached coin this evening. The crack is through some of the IGWT obverse and CENT on the reverse. Through some letters and below others. Plating issue? Any information on this one would be helpful.

Thanks.

Looks like a plating issue to me.Might also have something to do with Ridge Ring?

It does look like a striking issue. If it was a very hard strike, it could cause this. But when we see these in a roll, then we would know it is was a one time event, or part of a die event. The reverse is showing split plating on the CENT area. I don't feel it is a die crack because it doesn't meet a rim area. Also it would affect the devices near the Memorial more, than that area of the design. (The Memorial needs more metal to be left on that area, thus we see a lot of die cracks on the corners of the building) So I discounted the die crack theory. With the location on the obverse, it doesn't show like the Ridge Ring area on a DDD issue. So it must be linear plating bubbles that were raised, and split on the reverse. It's not DDD as it doesn't show in the normal areas that would be affected. Interesting coin though.

Thanks to all for the great feedback. Mike Diamond and Coop discussed coins with similar issues in an post from 2013.
