I have been collecting, buying, selling, and trading coins and other memorabilia for about 50 years. I ran across a clipped planchet Kennedy half dollar several years ago, still protected in mint condition by the Mint Set wrapper. I have only seen one other specimen comparable to it. Only a small anount of the coin is missing: perhaps less than 5% of the coin including the rim and the letter E in LIBERTY over JFK's head. I'm sure the Mint in 1972 didn't have the optical scanning technology that is available today, or the rather small would have been caught. Does anyone else here have any information or source which might be helpful in valuation of the coin/mint set? (I see now that my photo is way too large for the 333kb image limit on the forum.)

Generally a set is 10 to 15$. Normal ones. To evaluate well you has to determine also the quarter and the Nickel. On those if are the variety design will go few hundreds of dollars. Example is the quarter been Type H RDV-008 in mint states around 600 and the Nickel on transition 200. The JF less then 10% 20 to 25. Those prices are for raw.
