If you got them for about $20.00 US then, I would think it was worth the wait.

Right now a US $1.00 is 1.03 Euros so it depends on how much over you paid.

$22. For 48.6 + 24.3 gram = 72.9 x .90 = 65.6 grams $22/65.6 - .33 cents a gram?

That's a crazy good price. Seller must have been clueless about these coins.

@NumisEd, buying and selling in Rome is a bit different than other places. Garage sales don't really exist, so there are used markets - kinda like consignment shops - that handle these type things; you can buy and sell nearly everything. I find nearly everything I have listed on the forum at these type shops. Unfortunately, coin shops here are very high priced - few bullion dealers, and everything is priced as if ebay doesn't exist. However, the consignment shops don't really research much, so I have made some pretty good (and a few pretty bad) buys here. It's an interesting way to buy and sell, but there are some treasures to be found.

@Roma2021 -
You successfully cracked coins out of acrylic / resin blocks?
Very dangerous and I hope you wore googles (fragments can get in your eyes!).
Did you have any residue left on the coins? I mean small particles that wouldn't come off? Or did you remove those wth acetone etc?
PS: I have a few silver coins that I rescued from framed collections. They were adhered to velvet backing with rubber cement. I never could get all the cement off!

@jeff, I broke the acrylic by smashing it in canvas bags until it became more of a 'chisel' job. There was some residue, but I was able to remove it completely with acetone, boiled water, and some light flame ... like I said, I wouldn't do it again, but happy I did it. how else would I know I wouldn't do it again? haha

I discussed these coin metal pieces down the thread. IMO they were made to circulate at their stated value if someone cared to spend them. I've never seen them cast in acrylic.

I met Jesse Owens when I was about 12 yrs. old, too young to think of getting his autograph.
