I've got a 1963 full steps nickel I'm trying to get a true value on. I've saw estimates anywhere from $250 to $10,000 on one in this condition. Can someone please help me out with a value and how I could sell it.Mrayberryman/20221021_Screenshot_20221020-091337--1-.jpg[/im Edited by Mrayberryman 10/21/2022 12:10 pm

Is that a 63 or a 63D? If 63 any chance it is an impaired proof?

This coin looks circulated.
This would preclude it from any FS designation.

Yes, looks like circulated proof. Has shine but has hit marks. So, not a FS.

Impaired proof, yes. In my opinion, it's not quite a 'clean' full steps example.

Since everyone seems to be leaning towards this being a proof.. Proof Jefferson nickels do not get Full Steps designation anyways. Essentially all of them have full steps due to being struck atleast 2 times to ensure sharp high relief.

A proof coin should have Full Steps

Sure looks like a circulated proof. But not full steps due to the hit/ding on the top row under the front column just right of the door.

note that many collectors use the Q David Bowers approach in which hits do not disqualify FS because FS is a measure of strike quality, something that is not changed by a hit

Nick10- NGC designates Full Steps with hits as well.
I personally like that.
PCGS is too strict on Full Steps designation.

agree, hits are already reflected in the numeric grade, even so, I'm cool with people using whichever FS standard they prefer for their collection, IMO "buy the coin, not the holder"
