Hello, this beauty was found in a roll while on a hunt. To my untrained eye, I would like to say thats a double ear. Also on the reverse it looks as though there was a possible die clash maybe. The indentions look like they are behind the columns. Kinda cool. I am also wondering if that is doubling on LIBERTY. Especially in the B. And would that be doubling to the south on GOD? But like I said, my untrained eye. I would love to hear what the experts say about it. Thank you very much. This place rocks.

very curious to learn about the reverse die clash (that pattern is common on the reverse of the jailed Lincoln die clash on the obverse in 1983 cents), the DDO is hard to tell with the photos, and the double ear is interesting be die gouge

There may be some light MD on the obverse but do not see a doubled die. The ear took a hit, just PMD. You are correct about the reverse, those are remnants of a clash, still showing after the mint worker tried to get rid of it, on the die.

I have a 5000-coin canvas bag of uncirculated 1974-D cents with the same features as your coin. You may also want to check to see if your coin is too thick on one side and too thin on the other. Almost all of the coin that were in my mint-sewn bag have a tilted die strike as well.

Here's a graded example.

So much for there opinion. Just a die clash issue on the die:

Possible lathe lines on the left side of the reverse bays, or sanding marks on the bays?

Yokozuna you are correct. It is way thicker on one side.
