I'm not seeing anything on the coin, just lots of circulation marks and patina. The human brain is wired to pull images out of random marks in the things we see as a protection mechanism. The phenomena known as Pareidolia keys on the shapes like eyes, teeth, claws and other potential threats in the background to help us survive in the wild. Here's a picture of a dead tree in the Wildlife Refuge that's adjacent to our backyard. It's just a stump, but it almost looks human! It's also a good image to wish everyone at the CCF a Happy Halloween!

Yes @pris, there are no cartoons on your cent—just Pareidolia kicking in.

I do see a "floating roof" on the reverse... I remember reading that that was considered an error at one time.

Quote: and on the reverse on and behind the prllers Most are indeed Pareidolia, but the shape between the two middle pillars is actually a statue of Lincoln! In higher grades a lot more detail of the statue could be seen. And yeah, looks like a floating roof. I believe it's still considered technically an error (or at least a variety), but too common to be worth anything, especially in this grade.

@ coop
LOL! Thanks a lot. Now I'll be afraid to walk my dog in the backyard after dark!

I don't see cartoons, but I do think I see the Virgin Mary if you rotate it 90 degrees.
