Just inquiring about 1914 D penny I came across something that said it is valuable and wanted to ask more knowledgeable coin collectors before I went further. Thank you

It's one of the key date and mint mark for the Lincoln series. Depends on what condition it's in. Price ranges from grade of good a couple hundred dollars, to mint state a couple thousand dollars.

A quick way to check is make sure there is no VDB on his jacket near the rim lower left of the coin... That's just one way... Would love to see pics! smat

There are any counterfeits of these out there, need to see a photo to confirm if genuine.

The 14D is one of the most valuable Lincoln cents. There are a LOT of fakes out there! GOOD LUCK!

I agree, one of the key dates of the series, a genuine specimen can be valuable.

Yup, several more good dates: Key dates aside from your VG-8 details one, 1909-S both with and without the reverse initials VDB, but with VDB the key date of the set and worth far more than the non VDB. The other key from a mintage figure is the 1931-S. Semi-keys include the 1910-S to 1915-S with the 11-S being the best of those. The the rest of the Denver minted from 1911 to 1915 aside from your 14-D. Then the 1922-D, 1924-D, and 1926-S are semi-keys, and many more of the teens thru mid thirties mintmarked are better dates generally. Im sure you will get other responses some more
