Yikes that doubling is pretty subtle! I'm just not seeing it with the current pics.

I'm not seeing it either. Slight circulation marks on the date, but that's about it.

I have marked up your pic and added VV's mint mark styles to either side of yours. Yours is the correct mm (MMS-005). The yellow arrow show the flat, thin base and the green arrow shows the pointed serif, both of these match the MMS-005, whereas the MMS-004, has a rounded base and the serif is not defined. The only doubling I see, is MD, marked up with red arrows.

Thanks Makecents for your details analysis and mark up pic. But the doubled mintmark was not the MD, it's hand punch's RPM.

I don't think the mint mark matches MMS-005. Look at the shape of the interior of the D.

Quote: I don't think the mint mark matches MMS-005. Look at the shape of the interior of the D. With this being a highly, circulated coin, it's hard to tell what has happened to any, all of the devices. The mm could have easily taken a hit, mashed down, to mess with the look of the interior shape, plus, shadowing, on all three pics, also distorts. The base of each and the serif, that I have pointed out, in my opinion, are enough to see that it is MMS-005. You know how opinions go though.

Makecents, thanks for your response opinions, but I don't think that some of your explanation were reasonable.
