Here's a 1972 nickel I found CRH yesterday. It has what appears to be two small clips. What do y'all think? I've never found a clipped planchet before, so it would be cool to add to my collection.

Real deal. Double clipped planchet. How do I tell it is real? Note the weakness on of the devices on that affected areas. That is what you look for on the clipped planchets. Why does that happen there? It is because the proto rim is not as strong, (height on that area). The lack of height of the rim and the lack of collar fill will leave the devices looking like that. Thus it is a real Clipped planchet. If the devices are were strong, then it should be a warning that it is not the real deal. Thus look for this weakness on the affected areas on the clip.

Some large clips will not show the weakness as the strike is full over the whole area.

Thanks coop. I had researched some of the things like the tapered devices, and Blakely effect and they appeared to check out. This is a cool addition to my errors collection!
