I got this coin in just last night. The more I look at it, the more I wonder if it was a tilted planchet.
On the bottom of the obverse, I see a Rim Fin, and at the bottom of the reverse I also see a Rim Fin.
This makes me wonder in the planchet was tilted a little in the collar and material snuck past in the gaps created by being tilted thus allowing the fins to form.
There is also a slight rotation of the reverse noted as well.

Opinions?

Being a proof suggests multiple strikes or additional pressure and or force.

The rim fins in opposite directions always makes me wonder about a potential wide collar scenario.

Last the first 9 in the date. Is it actually as wide as my mind perceives it to be in the first image or is just due to a shadow or glare?

Thanks, Doug.
