Several weeks ago I posted about a collection that my Father left my sister and I when he passed away. There are 3 of the largest safe deposit boxe at the bank full of coins. We have not had time to look in the boxes yet due to the passing of my Mother and Brother within 2 months of each other.I did, however, find a box of index cards where he had logged what Morgan dollars he had,no grades just a list.If the record are correct there should be around 250 Morgan dollars ranging in dates from 1878 to 1921 with many different mint marks. How would we proceed from here to value the collection?Do any of you know an appraiser that you would recomemend? Thank you so much for your input. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

As far as I know there is only one coin dealer here and he is barely working anymore due to his age.Probably our best bet for good dealer would be Knoxville or Asheville.About an hout drive to either.

Yes, with the volume you have a reputable dealer in Knoxville, TN or Asheville, NC would be your best bet.
You could post the dates/mintmarks of the Morgans and take pictures of the contents of the SDBs and post them here but the best we'll be able to do is give a ballpark amount.
Look for PNG, PCGS, NGC authorized dealers. Good luck!

Dano. We'd be happy to help place a value on the collection. We'll just need info and preferably some photos. Also, many condolences on your losses. Hopefully sorting through the coins evokes good memories of your father.

Dano1976, Sorry about Your Parents and Brother passing. I would highly suggest You locate a trust worthy dealer, they are out there. Of course NEVER leave the collection out of your sight. This way, You'll get a Fair and Trust-Worthy Guesstimate !!! May I ask, You've stated Your Father left the collection to You and Your Sister, what did Your Father intend for the collection? Best Wishes......That's a Very Respectful Collection...PS, I hope You both decide to Keep Every Single Coin....

Sorry to here of your loss.Just don't take the opinion of one coin shop.I recently sold a coin for $800 dollars.Another coin shop offered me $610 for the same coin.Be sure to shop around when selling! Also hold on a while longer.I feel in the near future silver will skyrocket in my opinion. 250 Morgan's,how amazing is that.I would for sure keep many of the nice ones or fill a album. Thanks for sharing.
