Please look at this coin and let me know what it is I may be looking at - total novice here but looks like could be an "O" between the U and S in TRUST - coin also has some other interesting oddities

@dh, first welcome to CCF. Second, while that does look like a letter O, it wasn't on this coin when it was struck. Either it is a small drop of dried, clear glue or else a zinc blister where there was first a tiny hole in the copper plating.

Is the feature raised, or sunken (incuse)?

When examining the adjacent 'U' the shadows are on the opposite of the character., therefore my eye,
it looks like the tiny 'o' has been stamped into the coin.

That leads to the conclusion that is is a countermark, and so in this case, leads to the further conclusion that the coin has suffered from post mint damage.

That you for the welcome. I have been wanting to post for some time - I am somewhat obsessed with this new interest but the amount of detail and information to understand it all is overwhelming so thank you for your replies.

I can not tell if the "o" is raised or incused - I can not tell by touch

What about the partial 5 in front of the nose?
