Found another odd one. The mint mark by itself looks normal. So where did the rest of it come from? Tempted to clean out the debris but I know I can't. Any suggestions?

That is damage called split plating.

Split plating and the gray/white area is zinc rot that is forming. This coin will eventually all go away with time. So it is still a spender for now.
