I am needing some information about coins with missing letters or anything else. I have a 1981 SBA silver dollar (uncirculated mint set) and the R and I in America is missing. I've looked and googled any and everything. I have no idea what I may or may not have. Can someone help please?
Thx

@ani, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree that there was a little grease in the die when this coin was struck. It is a fun find, but I don't think it is extensive enough to impact the value.

When we say blocked, we mean the top areas of the devices had grease in the die. This prevents the narrow part of the tapered devices to be formed. On your coin the grease only let the bottom of the devices (because of the grease blockage) to be formed on your coin:

Not a premium, but knowing what happen is the value. (knowledge) You could spend this or save it to show to a new collector as a show and tell educational piece. Keep these in a half dollar tube and then you will remember where you put them.

Actually, being part of an uncirculated mint set may impart some value to it. Hopefully it's still in the original packaging.
