Contact mark on the mintmark. Coin took a hit in circulation. On a RPM, then the mintmarks would be enlarged with a raised extra punching seen on the mintmark area.

Note how the RPMs enlarge the normal size of the mintmarks? Take a look to see what you are missing on your searches. Then you eye will be trained for to look for what you really want to find. Happy searching.

I believe we're looking at post-strike damage.
