Bills were introduced only (not an enacted law) .

Read the introduced bill of the proposed coins in the link.

4 denominations. To be struck in proof and uncirculated.

Interesting silver $2.50 denomination in the size of 38.1mm

Interesting silver 5 ounce in the size of 76.2 mm.

Interesting DrDarryl, The Secretary may issue commemorative coins under this Act only during the period beginning on January 1, 2026, and ending on December 31, 2026 for the 250th anniversary of the establishment of the United States if it passes.

They are also redesigning other coins in 2026 as well. The contemplated 2026 redesign would affect the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson 5-cent coin, Roosevelt dime, the Washington quarter dollar, and Kennedy half dollar. The redesigned coinage would appear in all annual coin sets. The redesign would not affect the annual design changes for the Native American or American Innovation Dollars. https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-c...ypes-in-2026 https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th...923/text/rfs

I look forward to seeing what eventually becomes law and the final coin designs.

The law that gave us the current Quarter series already has provisions for 2026 coinage. That is quite sufficient and these bills are not law, so hopefully they will die in committee.

Both of these bills are old - they date to July 2021 - and have seemingly been put aside since their Committee referral. If they don't get approved before the 117th Congress adjourns (by January 3, 2023), they will die for lack of action.

A big difference between the bills and the current Act/Law, the Law calls for $0.25 and $1.00 circulation coins vs. the bills (linked above) that are seeking non-circulating coins of, primarily, precious metals. This means a couple of things: (1) the Law does not place mintage limits on the coins it authorized - they can be minted to demand / to satisfy the needs of commerce vs. the specified maximum mintage listed for the coins in the pending bills, and (2) the coins authorized by the current Law do not generate any surcharge funds that would go to the America250 Foundation "to fund the restoration, rehabilitation, and interpretation of units of the U.S. National Park System" - the sale price of the proposed coins would include surcharges.

If one of the bills is not reported out and passed in the current Congress, there is till time before the 2026 anniversary to re-introduce the bill(s) and pass one in the next Congress.

H.R. 1923 (the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020) which I linked to above at the end of my post has become law @erscolo as you mentioned, and is different than the bills mentioned by Dr. Darryl that are proposals only, not law yet which I just thought to bring up again since they all deal with 2026. So for example the Roosevelt dime might finally have a change for that year. This has been discussed on this forum in the past. HR1923 - In 2026 there will be 5 quarter designs in celebration of the Semiquincentennial (250th anniversary) of the U.S.A., and all other circulating coins (cent, 5-cent, dime, half dollar and dollar) should have a redesign of their obverse and reverse for that one year only plus mentions other changes for different years. That is now law and going to happen. The bills mentioned by Dr Darryl and elaborated on further by Commems are related to additional commemorative coins mentioned in the text that would also be released in 2026 for the 250th anniversary of the establishment of the United States if it passes at some point, or a new version of the bill does as mentioned.
