@dal, that doubling looks step-like and reduces the width of the letters so it is Machine Doubling.

Close AM is the norm. Looks like MD not a doubled die and maybe some over polishing/grease? Congrats on 50 post milestone, contest time

Wading through all of those photos I see a normal WAM cent with Machine Doubling.

The last digit, looks like a stronger Grease Fill on some areas. Not a die variety, just a die event.

FYI: CAM is normal for the year. The WAM is the one to look for along with the 1998 and 1999.

To make this clear - this coin IS a CAM not a WAM - if you click on the link it will bring up a chart of what to look for.
