Hi,

As I I am very fond of big medals. That is why I could not possibly overlook this one, which I had found. The price is pretty good,
however I am unsure about damage, that is present on the obverse. I am almost certain that they are scratches,
but I would like to ask for your opinion on the matter. Also, would you buy the medal, or pass (based on its condition).

The price is around 140$, while medals is similar condition go on auctions for circa 240$. But the most important thing to me, is whether it's scratched or not.

And thank you for the welcome!

Purchasing such is very much a personal reckoning, but I'd guess the market may be pretty thin. I see a silver one being presently offered at € 800, but apparently they were also rendered in bronze. Which composition is this specimen?

Doesn't seem too bad to me, but if the damage bothers you I wouldn't buy it!

I don't collect medals, but the scratch looks pretty minor to me.

I see. The reason I ask is because I want to avoid sinking money in a medal, that others may perceive as damaged.
I know that "you should buy what you like", but there is no point in paying more than what is something worth.

How much is the one worth? Dunno, but maybe you can help me gauge whether the price may be right.

That scratch is really minor and it doesn't touch the motif, so I don't see it as a problem. I would not hesitate to buy the medal, $140 seems like a good price.

to the Community!

If YOU like it and the price is fair then why not buy it?

On the flip side, if the minor scratch bothers you now it will bother you 10 times more once you own it!

Sorta a "darned if you do, darned if you don't" scenario.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I like it. How "big" is it?

My secondary collecting interest is large medals (50mm and up).

It really is personal. If someone offered me a BMW at half price because the body work had some dents/scratches, I would have no problems purchasing it and driving it around as I would know how much moola those dents saved me on purchase price. Others may prefer to pay the big bucks to have a BMW without a blemish. But then again, it has been said that I'm tighter than a fish butt hole.

I think it looks very nice overall. Any scratches seem minor and to me don't distract from the appearance.
