Hi! New member here.

I'm going through a bunch of coins I just bought at auction and I found a 1911 Barber dime that I thought was interesting and wanted to get some opinions. There is a line that goes all the way across the middle of the coin and I thought maybe it was some sort of die error. It could also just be damage. What do you think?

It is a scratch on the coin. Best practice is to remove coins from 2x2 holders before taking photos. Also, the better the photos you post the better we can help you. That photo is a bit blurry.

Thanks all for the replies! Guess I didn't find something as interesting as I thought. Still did alright at the auction though I think. Quite a bit of stuff went for melt value so I scooped up as much of that as I could. Might find some more coins I have questions about in there. Should I make a new thread for those or just add to this one?

Sorry about the photos. All I had was my cell phone and that was about as good as I could get it to take.

One coin per thread is best. Remember to remove coins from holders when possible before taking pics.
