May I get some input on this coin?

no DD that I can observe, however a peculiar strike and slight buckle in the center.

Thought it would be a good topic for discussion

Thanks!!

Going off the image provided, I'd think a formally Encased Cent? Thanks, Doug.

A photo of the reverse would be helpful. Anyway the lighting could be improved? Images are rather dark. Thanks.

Looks out of round. It may have been smashed on that lower rim on the obverse. If so then it is just damage. If the rim is a partial collar, the edge will show a different look. But this one looks smashed.

The edge would be affected, not the rim. Damage flattens the rim. That is what I'm seeing on this coin.

When this coin was struck , the reverse die was the anvil die. The collar would have come up from the reverse towards the obverse. A partial collar error of this year would have the wider part of the edge on the obverse side. This coin shows the wider part on the reverse side. This would eliminate this coin from being a partial collar from 1917.
