It is about the U.S. President 1$ Dollar coins. As I wasn't tracking any new releases of this series, I didn't know about the release of George H.W. Bush. but unlike all the previous releases of dead president dollar coins, this latest issue, the mint changed it up and decided to NOT produce a proof coin - which leaves a permanent hole in the album. That is unless you buy the 'cornicles set and use the Reverse Proof from that to fill in the hole. (which is still available at the mint for $120.00) or 140 to 150 with ebay.
My real question is: Will the mint produce any more coins for this series as the living presidents, well, die. Or is it a done deal. another question could be asked is did the mint create master dies for the currently living presidents for future use?

The act specified that for a former president to be honored, they must have been deceased for at least two years before issue. So former presidents George H. W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and then-current president Barack Obama were ineligible to have a dollar coin issued in their honor when the series ended in 2016, after honoring Ronald Reagan, the last president who was eligible.
Since the program has terminated, producing coins for those presidents not yet honored would require another Act of Congress. [The issuance of coins under this subsection shall terminate when each president has been so honored, subject to paragraph (2)(E), and may not be resumed except by an Act of Congress]. On February 12, 2019, Senator John Cornyn introduced a bill to authorize a Presidential dollar honoring George H. W. Bush and an accompanying First Spouse gold coin for Barbara Bush, which was signed into law by President Donald Trump on January 28, 2020. So looks like thats it for now but its not impossible that future legislation could happen as you ask as the living presidents die.
By 2011, 1.4 billion uncirculated $1 coins were stockpiled which, if laid flat, could reach from Los Angeles to Chicago. By 2016, this number might have reached two billion if the minting had continued unchanged so that also is likely to play in not releasing more and since the legislation didnt include them, I doubt any master dies were produced - Bush was added via different legislation later as mentioned.
As to the hole, perhaps using an uncirculated from the $25 set would do rather than open an expensive $120 set and keeping that separately.
The proof Bush coin really irritates me, I have all the others but really don't want to spend that kind of money. Why they didn't offer them in sets is beyond me.
It was a one off, so I can understand it not being in the proof set. However, I cannot understand why they were not issued as a single like they did with the 1999-S proof SBA dollar. I guess they figured the C&C set was enough.
I also have all the series, except for a George H.W. Bush proof . The proofs were released in sets of 4 or 3, so I'm hoping that once they have enough dead presidents, they might release another set in the future.

that is exactly my point. also, If the mint took the time to look at the Dansco album, they would have seen that a proof coin was needed to be released as well to keep the series in check...

Doubtful. They have to mint them in the year they were legislated to be issued. Unless they have a secret stash of proof Bush coins sitting in storage, it would not happen without legislation authorizing more to be minted beyond the 2021 calendar year.

Sorry, I have to chuckle at that. I can just see some low level mint employee reporting to management, "What about the album collectors?"
I think it is safe to say the album collectors were never a consideration once they started throwing those extra S and W quarters at us. Then there are those extra cents and nickels. Also, two words, Satin Finish!

Yes, regretfully, the mint does not have the needs and wants of their customers in mind when they mint these things.
But I did find a 'work-a-round' for the satin finish and the extra coins that the mint feels is important in order show off that they are able to do when ever they want..
But it was a huge challenge to find a spot for all those satin quarters...
And here it is a little more than halfway through 2025 and I have heard no talk of renewing this program, let alone talk about a coin for President Carter in 2026.
