i have come across a pennie I dont recognize. 1976D Lincoln + Memorial, but I do not know the significance of the liberty bell and the country outline with U.S.A. in the middle. The back side looks normal. Also it is not standard copper color it is the silver color

A counter-stamped Lincoln Cent. There's quite a variety of counter-stamps out there. Done after the coin left the mint.

to the Forum! This is a novelty counterstamped Lincoln Cent to commemorate the Bicentennial of the US.
Chafemaster has an extensive thread on counterstamped Lincolns.

As for the color, it was probably plated with silver by the same people who applied the counterstamp.

no I found it in the collection my dad pased on to me. I have no idea what all he had aside from a whole lot of pennies and a whole lot of other things. ive only been at this for a couple of days so please bear that in mind.
