The guy in front of me in the lunch line way back in 1985 looked at this with disdain as an unworthy reject, and I remember feigning indifference as I nonchalantly offered to swap for a normal $20 to let me help him out and take it off his hands...which he did.

You can see and feel the three-dimensionality of the embossed "D" in the blank crease. If I were to open the fold, it would extend way beyond the footprint of a normal bill, but I don't dare open it too far because the crease is so crisp and flat and I don't want to ruin it.

The guy that traded really missed out.

Cool find Its called a Printed Fold Error. Those are the type of note errors that are great keepers as they are unique. https://www.pmgnotes.com/news/artic...-chronicles/

Wonderful error note and slab worthy to boot!

You made a wise trade when you saw it 38 years ago!

I hope you enjoy it for another 38 years, too!

Value? I'd guesstimate somewhere around 500$; maybe more!

Wonderful example of a Printed Fold Over or "Butterfly" note error. Love the story too. The 32-subject sheet got a fold on the corner during the first print, and the rest is history. It's a good candidate for grading. Unfolding it shouldn't be a problem because it's not regular paper. Thanks for sharing

Great read and note. I hope you keep it in a Mylar sleeve. You might want to write down the back story and keep it alongside the note but not in the same sleeve.

sharing unfolded pics. Note in the closeup the clearly embossed Cleveland "D" on both the main bill and the appendage.
