looking at my coins I noticed some shadowing in the 9's and under the D mark is that anything?

@jpo, first welcome to CCF. Second, in addition to DDD, there may be a little split plate doubling on the mintmark. This is also very common and does not add to the value of the coin.

yes commonly found as you mentioned after its introduction in 1982.
