(This is my first time posting so I apologize if anything is incorrect). Recently I received two binders of 1999-2009 commemorative state coins, they appear to be in good condition so I was wondering if there would be any use going to get them appraised and graded or if there is no value In coins of that type. Thank you

For the most part, the circulating issues of the Statehood Quarters bring little to no premium on the secondary market. The only one that I know of that has a significant premium is the 2004-D Wisconsin quarter that has an additional high leaf on the corn stalk.

I see no point in wasting money to get any of them appraised or graded unless you have one of those Wisconsin quarters with the extra leaf.

Agree with westernsky. Since I believe were talking about quarters here, each would be worth face value. If you feel you have something truly noteworthy, please post a few large and sharp images. Thanks.

I have a complete set of 1999 2009 State Quarters.
They all came from circulation, at face value.

Thus, the US Treasury has made a profit out of me, amounting to $12.50, less manufacturing costs.

Where did the set come from? What is the set housed in? Are they from mints sets purchased from the US Mint or collected from pocket change? Are there proof quarters or silver quarters in the set? Are they Satin finish coins from 2007-2009? What do you know about the set? I know these are hard questions for someone who may not know much about coins but please let us know anything more that you can. Pictures can help us very much as well.

Silver and proof coins can be worth more then just circulated or mint condition business strike coins. Looking quickly on ebay a full PDSS Statehood Quarter set (50 Philadelphia, 50 Denver, 50 proof, and 50 silver proof coins) could sell for upwards of (and over) $400.

I have been actively looking at the market for these coins. I am in need of this set to upgrade the coins I have. To give you an idea of my experience I bought a complete set of P&D coins off ebay 10+ years ago. It was about $60 and all the coins were in average mint condition. Today the same set can be purchased for about $70. This is for the business strike coins only.

In this set I found no high grade examples worth more then a few dollars. Today the market is getting flooded with these sets. I was able to purchase a complete First Day of Issue Statehood Quarter set. These originally sold for $15 for two coins when purchased from the US mint. That would mean people paid $750 for the complete Statehood Quarter set. I bought the set last week for $99. Again, just briefly scanning the set I have not found many high grade examples.

Even though, I am a buyer, it is not because they are valuable or will ever be valuable. I would not spend more then $.50-$1 per coin if I bought a mint condition set. I am a buyer for the challenge of building the highest grade set I can but chances of finding high grade examples in sets is less than 5% if you are lucky.

We would love to see any pictures or learn more so we could get more focused on exactly what you have and make suggestions on what you could do with the set.

Good avice above. I'll add that business strike Statehood Quarters were minted in the hundreds of millions each, so unless your set is proof, silver proof, or very high grade MS, there won't be much/any value over face. The 2009 DC/Territories quarters had significantly lower mintages but were still in the tens of millions each. And yes, photos will help us considerably.

Profit to the Treasury was about $9.50
I'm assuming you just have one from each state and since you said 2009 you have the territories as well, and you don't have both mints. That would mean 56 coins with a face value of $14 not $12.50. It costs about 8 cents to make each quarter so fo $14 face cast was about $4.50 and Treasury Profit was $9.50.

Oh, I think that most (not all) picked up a few circulating State Quarters over the years for maybe even a set. I know that I did...just 'cause. That said, the State Quarters were a fun and educational coin project for young collectors. And, I think we'll all agree that that is important.

Instead of the State Quarters, I preferred the Silver Proof America the Beautiful sets - again, just 'cause!

Also, my extra leaf Wisconsin was a wonderful surprise!

I am assuming that these are circulation-strike coins, and if that's the case, if they are not higher than an MS65, they are only worth face value, unless they're a recognized variety like the 2004-D Wisconsin extra leaf or the 2005-P Kansas "IN GOD WE RUST".
