Sorry to be the bearer of sad news, I just got confirmation that my friend David Lange (ANA, NGC, Summer Seminars, NLG, NBS, etc.) has passed away after a valiant fight through cancer.
Dave and I spent many afternoons and evenings just sitting around the dorms at ANA summer seminars shooting the breeze about coins and life, such a great guy too. Going to leave a big hole in the numismatic world with his passing.
R.I.P. my friend... See you at the big bourse in the sky.

I was looking through my old photos for stuff with Dave and I but only found these photos on my hard drive, none with Dave, but still some neat pictures...
A photo of David's cat "Fraiser" guarding his collection Bowers & Rudy Catalogs.
Many of you know Dave was a serious collector of coin albums and coin boards, he wrote a couple books on the subject as well and maintained a pricing guide which he published. Here are some photos of his collection, I remember giving him a bunch of different little bank dime holders and he gave me some mini RedBook dime holders, way before he wrote the books. Think it was either in Denver at the 1995 ANA Show or Summer Seminar. I hadn't got any 1996 Dimes yet.
Here is a small sampling of his coin album/coin board collection, which had it's own room.
and last a page on the Newman Numismatic Portal listing his books and papers, some are available for free reading and download others are still in copyright.

Not Dave Lange, I met Dave700x once at a coin show in Texas, nice guy too. Dave700x lived in Texas and as far as I recall was from Texas. Dave W. Lange was in the Sarasota, Florida area and was from California, back when I met him, he moved east and began working with NGC in 1994 if I recall correctly.

Yes his passion for the hobby shows in the photos of his collection with reading his amazing background of all hes done in the industry, he will be missed and his info will live on for other collectors. Here is he in this video talking about one passion, the history of coin boards which is essentially history of coin collecting by the masses and his book Coin Collecting Boards of the 1930s & 1940s: A Complete History,. Some of his other books are very good like the complete guide to Lincoln cents. He was awarded an ANA Numismatist of the year as well. https://www.ngccoin.com/news/articl...e-ana-award/

Ok, thank you I wasn't sure given the timing and the names. Doubly sad news then.
