Hello yall, this is my first post and my first time really actively searching for error coins as a hobby. My hobby interests are personal at this point and not looking for bang for my buck coins, so any error, even if small, is of interest to me. I am learning that coin collecting does take an eye and I figured yall would be the best resource for help when I could not figure it out on my own. On this 1999 Connecticut State Quarter that I believe was struck off center. Looking at the obverse the rim from 4-7 oclock is quite pronounced and much thicker than the opposite edge at 9-11 oclock. Wondering if this is really an error or just PMD. Thanks for yalls thoughts!

I do have a 1980 dime with a similar question if that interests you as well in another post.

Welcome to this forum. Here you will find very experienced collectors who offers their knowledge to you with kindness. I know some but am not a pro. You indeed have an off center struck coin but normally the rim has to be so off center to invaded the letters to have any value.

This is not off-center. This is a very slight misaligned die.

to the CCF and MAD on both sides, not enough for a premium. For that it would have to be enough to affect the devices.

Agreed that what you have is a relatively common mis-aligned die (MAD) strike.

Is it a mint error? - technically yes.

But these are everyday issues at the mint and have no numismatic premium

If you like it set aside and label as MAD.

Check the edge of the coin, to see if the flattened rim areas are thinner. Possible flattening post strike on this coin?
