This one had me a bit confused. Well, nothing new there as that's how I just go about life in general, but I digress. So it has this look of a struck through die cap, but the secondary image is of the obverse (so not brockage), incuse, and shifted. Couldn't be sure so I asked Mike Diamond for an opinion and well I suppose it is pretty much exactly what it looks like. His comment was:

"Your dime was struck though the detached and laterally shifted bottom of a late-stage die cap. Such errors characteristically generate a set of correctly-facing, incuse design elements."

And there it is. The coin appears AU in hand so probably was in circulation a bit until some lucky roll hunter picked it out. My photo set up is terrible with non-copper coins and the dime looks a lot better in hand than in my pics.

Great looking cap there with a wild "doubled ear" effect.

Another very nice one.

Seems like this would have been a pretty late-stage die cap since most of the obverse details show up.

I agree. And probably the coolest thing here is just how much of the cap was intact after the shift, as it still shows most of the coin's details. This one would be pretty cool-looking using a camera set up like CoinHI is using as my stage just can't capture this thing well at all.

Yes, it would be fun to play with the lighting to try and pop that second ear out a little.

I have a few coins with die cap errors, I think that's what its called. Are these two 1995 P the same as the ops coin?
