Hi, new to this group. I was a coin collector many years ago but sold my collection. I recently discovered a leftover bag of 64, 1963D pennies in what appear to be in BU condition (shiny bright copper). All of the coins appear to have the " L on the rim" mint error in the word "Liberty". Some appear to also have the DDO mint error as well (not sure). Any advice on the value and best place to sell them would be greatly appreciated. Attached is a representative photo of one of the coins.

Not an error and no added value, I'm guessing.

Ridge Ring from Die Deterioration. Pretty common.

Ridge ring, yes--a sign of Die Deterioration, and why the L is touching the rim.

Thanks to all for the great information! There are many of these for sale on E-Bay with the same "L" issue and they are asking a lot of money for them. So, buyer beware!

Most of the 64 coins are shiny, bright copper and appear to be uncirculated. Since I collected coins in the 1960's, they have been in my possession since then. Do they have any value as a 60 year old, uncirculated coin and is it worth it to have them professionally graded? What is your best guess as the grading of this coin? I did see that they made 1.7B of these coins.

to the CCF There are many early 60s that are still in bags that have never been seen. In order for you to recoup the grading fee, the coin would have to be almost flawless. Ms 67 or 68. And they are as hard to find as hens teeth. Don't believe what you see on ebay, thay can ask whatever they want, getten it is a different story.

Just because a coin is "bright and shiny" does not automatically make them "uncirculated." And/or valuable. There are a lot of factors that make a coin "uncirculated" label worthy. The cent shown here has a value of exactly one cent. Don't go off of prices off of ebay listed prices, a better indicator are ebay's SOLD listings. Bonne chance!
