Children Find 1997 Wheat Penny? - Coin Community Forum

ConfusedCoin New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 02/03/2023 9:45 pm My children found a penny that clearly shows the date as 1997, but the back is that of a Wheat penny. Any thoughts on what this is or how it got this way? This is not a joke. Report this Post to the Staff

Tanman2001 Pillar of the Community United States 4404 Posts	Posted 02/03/2023 10:31 pm Was a normal Wheat penny, but someone carved a different date on it. The obverse design looks completely normal for a late 1950's Wheat cent and the 9 is slightly larger, so I assume just a 5 carved into a 9. Report this Post to the Staff
