Here we go....to me it looks like Potosi ca 1600-1640 based on the cross. The size looks more like a 4R than 8R to me, but weight will tell. The lettering looks like a fragment of HISPANIERUM. There isn't enough there to determine an assayer and establish a rough date.

I think it looks more like a Bolivan cob but I'm also pretty new to this field of collecting. You should get Daniel Sedwick's "The Practical Book of Cobs" it is the standard reference and the 20th anniversary edition just came out you can get them directly from Daniel himself at his website. (That is how I got my own copy and autographed too). It's under $20 shipped a great deal for the best reference to start off with. https://www.sedwickcoins.com/books.htm

Does anyone know a company that provides a bezel mounting service?

I'd start with a local jeweler. We've got a local favorite that has put together rings and earrings from small emeralds and sapphires I picked up traveling. Mounting a cob in a bezel would be pretty simple. A rock shop that mounts polished cabs would be able to do it too, and probably cheaper than a jeweler.

Very light but typical for a seawater corroded 8R.

Yes the corrosion chewed off a bit of the weight. But that just gives it personality lol
