going thru some inherited coins there was a small envelop of the above cents, twelve total. Looking at the RedBook the DD is not as severe as pictured but it is evident on the "t" of In God We Trust on all of them, and on the "I"s of three of them. The value for an MS63 is large, where would I go to get an evaluation of grade? To me these are EF40 to AU50.

Thanx in advance.

There is a case of master die doubling on more than half of all 1972 cents that has no premium value at all. If the doubling you are seeing exists only on some of the letters of the motto, then this is what you ahve, and the coins are not worth any premium. There are, however, ten different listed doubled dies that you should be familiar with when searching 1972 cents. Some of the doubled dies that are far less obvious are worth more than the obvious ones because they are far more scarce. This is an excellent case where visibility doesn't make the value...rarity does.

You should also check out "Looking through the Lincoln Cents", it's also helpful.

Davest - the Cherrypicker's guide shows a couple of them, but no published reference will show you all of the different ones. My site, located at www.coppercoins.com will come the closest to showing you good images of most of them.

I have come across many of the 11 varieties of the 1972-DDO, however in all the books and sites I have not seen a picture of one variety of this coin, one I have only heard about and that is the one that has the separation close to the 1955DD, I am told from one of my dealer/friends that this coin exists and he had one in hand and sold it in 1974 for $130.00, yes I can not believe the price but back then, if you think about it it is all in check compared to today's prices. I wonder if anyone has any information on this variety, I am told the coin is very well defined, and simply put, unique.
I would like to hear anything anyone has to offer in the way of information,a picture if anyone has one, I wrote to some of the member's here, I figure they are very busy and have many things to do. I would appreciate any and all info, thanks, Mike...
