It seems like the Mint has again sent up its prices besides the dollar coin rolls and bags. A Silver proof set, which had increased greatly in recent years: 2019: $54.95 2020: $63.25 (later in the year it was $105) 2021: $105.00 - this was the worst as the number of silver quarters declined with only two that year (Crossing the Delaware and Tuskegee) 2022: $105.00 2023: $130.00 I referenced Coin World & The 2023 Red Book for these figures. This has to be a product of the Mint obtaining silver blanks as the premiums and price of silver doesn't seem to reflect these increases. I wonder how poorly these sets will sell this year?

Wow, the increases! What, are they made out of groceries or something?

Wow that's about a couple of dozen eggs. If they want to make some money than eliminate the penny and nickel. Now they will not be losing money. If they raise prices too high, then the collecting will be over.

Yea I saw the $130 price tag on the Silver 2023 set today and was amazed. I said last year I wasn't buying it, the price was too much but my husband convinced me to. . . $130 is STEEP. Huh.

I'm not at all surprised, considering that everything else has gone up so much. Incredible!

The bad thing is that even though the pricing has more than doubled since 2019, the 'JOY' factor of having these coins has NOT. Each silver proof coin I have has the same value to me, no matter what year they are from or the price I paid for them.
It's also sad that the ROI has probably dropped significantly. I'm sure my kids would rather have a $100 bill in their hands after I pass than $40 in silver. My son has already talked me out of buying yearly baseball card sets (2021 ends my run), and has brought up coin collecting too. It's kind of funny though that my son (who has plenty of money) is trying to "wean" me away from spending; while my daughter (who never has enough money) is fine with me buying whatever makes me happy.

You really put it in perspective, atticguy. With silver starting to slide a bit, this seems ill-timed for the increases. Surely, they are having issues getting their silver blanks, but could this demonstrate that it's getting that much harder for them to obtain silver?

$130 is insanity. Even if silver futures come down at some point there is zero chance that tthe $130 tag will follow and rather will likely only go up from there.
If this year's set is the same as last year's set, there will be ~1.6 oz or about $35 of silver in it. I've got a lot of uses for $130 so I may be signing off from these annual releases.

The government created the inflation, they have to deal with it too. It's a sad past couple of years for America. :(

I discovered a US Mint Store last week where I was working in Washington , DC. It was like being in a jewelry store looking at diamonds that I couldn't afford. I HAD to buy something so I settled for a PDS pack of quarters ( the box is slightly mashed , I should have asked for a different one ).

Standard retail . 60.00 .
Edit : And I still haven't opened it. 60 bucks plus tax for a cardboard box at this point. Best case is I paid 60 bucks for 30 and got taxed for it. We The People.

I mentioned in another thread that the Silver Eagle Proofs went from $73 in 2022 to $80 in 2023. But, that's nothing compared to going from $105 to $130. When the 2023 sets come out I'm either going to buy three or buy none and move on to something else.
