I found this 1972 D in a coin roll, I was not sure if this is a mint error or PMD. please assist!! Thx

@hunt, sorry but that is all damage to this poor cent. It may have spent some time in a parking lot to get all rough like that.

Yes, post-strike damage. Got roughed-up, possibly in a parking lot or in an industrial setting.

One thing to remember is that if you have a gouge and a pileup of metal, 99% of the time it's damage.
