It weighs 2.6g, should weigh 3.1. All devices are correct.
In 1973 they did experiments trying to make the penny cheaper to produce. It is not the 1973/74 silver made of aluminum, the weight and color are off. The diameter and thickness are same as other pennies. LolMine is bronzy with a green tarnish. High pitched like brass when dropped. There was a brass experiment but none have been found yet. What is the best way for me to proceed with this?

Yes, we need an accurate weight--out to two decimal places. An end-on pic of the rim would be useful too.

I agree with needing an image of the edge of the coin to help rule out shenanigans. (And the weight to two decimal points.)

It should be made of brass, while often called copper, cents were actually made of brass from 1962 until the change to copper coated zinc in 1982. Some variance in weight is perfectly normal, this is why an accurate weight is so important.

First thing is double check your scale. Might need to buy a scale that reads down to 0.001 grams and weighs up to 50 grams.

It could be a thinned planchet? Note how weak the Motto is? Check that edge to see if the edge is thinner on that area. That would explain what happened on the planchet. (being under weight)

to the CCF With that much weight reduction, I would think the devices wouldn't be struck up so nice?

Very interesting! If it is an off metal it would have a different density than copper.

This it is an Phil strike, so the off metal must be out of the consideration. Only Denver and San Francisco strike foreign coins and only most close was 1 centavos Philippine on 600 Cu and 400 Zn. The story of Aluminum I do not believe and it is a fantasy. Eva Brown has this idea but was push out very fast do to cost to produce. They was in recent years some test to see if feasible to add 1% Aluminum to the Cu alloy in order to be more resistant but the cost for production will be higher then it is normal.

This coin has just some Copper sulphate on which give this color.
