The recently discovered and sold, finest known NE Shilling in MS-61.

The first coinage known to have been produced in the 13 colonies. The only one to ever receive an uncirculated grade, although the designation seems a little silly given its condition. Sylvester Crosby and Sydney Noe, the giants in research of Massachusetts coinage never got to lay eyes on it. We are indeed lucky to live when we do today.

Lots of news at the time about the NE shilling discovery. This BBC article has an image of the other coins in the tin where it was found.
