1882 P Morgan with a decent clash on both sides.

I'm a "copper head" but do like toned Morgans like a lot of collectors. I got this one recently because of the toning but recognized the clash marks on the neck.

Under the loop, many other parts of the clash became visible. I don't know if it has a VAM #. Lots of areas showing the clash but I'm not sure if any are pertinent to establishing a VAM. Your guidance would be appreciated.

Enjoy the minimal but intense toning and thanks in advance for any insight.

Seems to match up pretty closely with VAM-29A. http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.c...82-P_VAM-29A

Thanks Eric but the clash around the N(IN) is different on this coin.
I've got lots of images to share, so let me know about other VAMS.

(And I see I doubled up one image so I'll put in the bridge of the nose, west of the eagle's body.)

It doesn't seem to resemble part of the wreath. Any thoughts?

Yep, you are right. Couldn't see that in the first set of images.

Zurie nailed this one though. VAM-36A. Obverse diebreak from the star, through the neck, to the one and eight match perfectly with the example.

By Jove, I think he's got it!!
(Some things are hard to spot even having the coin in hand but that die crack through the date and left stars is an exact match.)

Thanks, Zurie. That's a relief finding out the VAM#.
(You posted that ID just before my previous reply and I missed it until now.)

Thanks to EricGreen and allcoinsaregood as well for chiming in.
My phone seems to get decent close-ups about 75% of the time using a clip-on magnifier. I have to tilt the lens to the surface to get the phone's software to focus properly. That can throw the perspective off on markers sometimes.

And for grins and yucks here's the bow from the reverse.

And an extra obverse marker of an E-W die crack through the hair to the right of the designer's initials.

Also, since this variety was only discovered in 2015, is there any consensus on where this one may fall on the rarity scale?
Thanks again.

What are doing messing with these big silver discs? Sorry I missed this thread, hadn't been on the VAM threads for a few days. Looks like they got you covered though. Nice, Morgan, toning, clashing and VAM, four of my favorite things, in the Coin World!

Thanks for stopping by Makescents. I knew you'd be by your old VAM haunt.

It was definitely the toning around the perimeter that got my attention and the two clash marks at the throat that sealed the deal.
