When I look up listed RPM's on say Coppercoins.com they list quite a few, 60 or more for a 1956-D (the coin I was searching)
My question is: Is each RPM unique to that single coin?
Should I expect to find another RPM that matches one of their examples exactly?

They are unique to the die that made that coin. You could find several coins (RPM's) that came from that same die.

Also note that the shape and location of the mintmarks must be a match in order to be from that same die. (These are like fingerprints of the die that struck your coin. All should match in order to be from that die.

AsCoop stated above. The mm has to match the listing. Anything or everything else as far as the markers can be different.
