I came across 8 of these and don't know if they would be considered a grease error and if so is it worth getting any of them graded so I can sale them. I looked online for anything like this and the only thing I came across was the newer Lincoln Penny.
This is when the grease is still on the fields with some grit in the grease. This will eventually move into the devices or leach off on the coins struck with that die pair. Not a plus for the coin. (striking event) but now, you know what it is.
I'm just wondering why the 2005 quarter is considered an error since the IN GOD WE RUST— was caused by grease in the die, which obliterated the first "T" of the word "TRUST."
It is not an error - that too would be considered a die event, some say it is a variety. - Just a marketing scheme to raise the price to increase value.
