Guys what would cause such a difference in the lettering on "LIBERTY" and the "DATE"?

Die Deterioration. The striking die is getting worn.

With the 'I' being complete but very thin on Liberty, I'm thinking a die polishing event around some of the devices.

Combination of both. Not a doubled die.

Maybe a little grease on the date and circulation hits. Polishing the die on would make the I larger
