I found this 1970 D penny with what looks like an extra blob of copper sitting on the top part of the 9 in the date. Any help would be appreciated :)

That is called a die chip. It's not an error, it's a die event. A small piece of metal has broken away from the die. Die chips are very common and add no value to the coin.

Yes, that's a die chip. Dramatic/unusual chips can increase value above face. Alas, this one is a minor chip--not that uncommon.

If the planchet goes in a 3.11 Grams, it comes out with 3.11 grams. A die chip allowed that area to be filled with the void on the die. (The shape that broke off of the die) Just a copper melt coin. No premium for this die event.
