Not it. Your pictured coin is from the Denver mint; the real deal 58 doubled die coin is from the Philly mint. Keep looking!

I don't know maybe glare doubling, could be MD, I don't think Die Deterioration because that's a pretty good strike.

Die Deterioration is always towards the rim direction 99% of the time. (exception being on the early Lincoln cents with the large rims, they would also make the inside of the date devices showing die wear on the opposite area, because of the larger rims on them) The Big DDO is a monster:

Note the motto devices and Liberty. that is were the hub doubling is the strongest.

1958-D DDO-001 is a very minor DDO:

Note the description on the site:

Quote:
Description: Light spread on lower B of LIBERTY and upper 9 of date.

Those are the only two areas affected by a doubled die. So if you are comparing your coin to any of these other images, they are all normal. Just the two areas mention on the Description are the doubled die areas.
On your coin on the '9', do you see the white color on the images on the date with that light color? That is Machine Doubling, not a doubled die. The glare that you are seeing is from the flattening of the devices.

Here is what the 1958-D DDO-001 is looking like:

I think I see what you are saying about the glare. Its such a small amount of doubling and it looked like mine was wider in the same areas but not quite, oh well the search goes on but I'm about thru all my old pennies still got some interesting ones to post. thanks for your knowledge
