LuvmyCam: are you saying this particular DDO won't really have a LDS version, or no examples have been found yet? Just curious

Excellent find and a great looking coin, congrats! I love a variety that you don't need closeups of.

It is the DDO. Very late die state. But is correct.

correct, their are 3 distinct die stages that I am aware of: early mid ( doubling clear with notches/ extra thickness on God We Trust, 2 eyelids, separation of all letters in date with 966 clearly doubled). Mid state ( same areas just not as clear with 66 showing some separation but more twisted, mushy thickness. And late die state where you can't really see the 2nd eyelid, OD of God doubled RU of Trust doubled and rest just fat twisted and mushy especially the 66 of 1966. Early die state though not reported is i.m.o. there, been found, and several people on forum own one. It's likely the listing experts may simply not have had an example to verify at time - I've owned 9 and every one was in a different die state 2 were oh ya! doubling in entire motto hands down earlier die state. Its a funky DDO loved or hated sometimes dismissed...7 years ago 400 bucks MS red then I bought 5 MS reds and 4 AU over 12 months and they shot to 600 bucks, then an MS65 RD made the pop in 2019 followed by 2 more gem 65 RD's. Now they cooled a little but not much last 64RD went for 550 at GreatCollections a month or 2 back. Like a new whistle my tastes changed and I sold 8 and bought silver with funds but I pull out my last old brown AU occasionally and study. It was fhoo phooed on forum when I posted it...OK whatever its an FS-101 regardless the RU of Trust never lie and the taffy twisted date never lie. The 1966 DDO is a niche date, more are being found as roll hunters bump into the info and I'm rooting for an MS66 RD to be found.I never found one but if I did 700 would be my price LOL I digress, the slabb company's don't differentiate die state but the type folks that want one normally do so if you coin went to auction it would still bring a landscapers week of pay ( after taxes haha). Keep that baby its unlikely you will find one MS again. Wait until you own a nice 1972 DDO FS-101 in MS RB after looking at every dang thing on obverse superdooper doubled you may find minor DDO's ain't got the juice. Welcome to the persnikity finicky fraternity of die variety collectors and again congratulations on your score! Just a thought...if your going to keep it ANACS will have it graded and back to you in about 15 days for about 68 bucks shipping and all - PCGS or NGC around 94 bucks and a 10 - 12 week wait.

Well, I finally got this one back from my local coin shop that sent it to PCGS, it graded MS64.The bad news is, it came back as a normal coin? I asked him if he forgot to send it to them as a variety. He claims he did, and they told him they didn't think this was a DDO I'm kinda thinking he screwed this one up myself, but I can't prove it since I didn't see the paperwork. I'm not sure if I should call PCGS and ask if it was sent in for variety or just send it back in myself since I have my own PCGS account now? What are your thoughts...

I don't know how they missed that. You can clearly see the DDO in the PCGS pictures.

Nice looking coin and DDO, congrats! I can't imagine PCGS would miss this DDO.

TPGrs have missed a few lately. If they don't agree to it being a DD, I don't know where to go. Maybe ANACS

It's a no doubter FS-101. I had this happen to an 1858/7 FEC I own. They reholdered it properly but I had to send side by side proof with an example they had already certified and identified as the variety next to my coin.
